Tools for Classroom Teaching and Professional Development

WEB 2.0 TOOLS FOR KRASNODAR TEACHERS OF ENGLISH.


1.    Dear Colleagues!  I invite your to learn more about  WEB 2.0  TOOLS for classroom activities.

This Project  will give teachers the opportunity to use Web 2.0 tools in collaborative activities among their colleagues before they integrate them in their classroom routines. (Voice Thread, Mind42, Wiki)

-          Raise awareness of the importance of using Web 2.0 tools in classroom activities and professional development
-          Discuss the advantages of using Web 2.0 tools for classroom teaching and professional development.
-          Introduce Web 2.0 tools in collaborative activities among teachers
-          Integrate Web 2.0 tools in activities of Our World Through English (OWTE) textbook.
-          Reflect about the use of these tools in the classroom and how they help develop the language skills.

3.    A Timelinefor the Project  includes specific benchmarks to be achieved.

Before the course:

Third and fourth week of  May 2012
-          Planning
-          Authorizations
-          Collect teachers’ e-mail addresses
-          Send  e-mails  with course information and dead line for confirming participation
During the course:  June  2012
Four weeks:
W1. Voice Thread – Wiki
W2. Mind42 – Wiki
W3. Application
W4. Reflection - Feedback

-          Introduce the Web 2.0 tools (Voice Thread, Mind42, and Wiki) through the development of the activities.
-          Practice using Voice Thread, Mind42, Wiki in collaborative activities among teachers.
-          Integrate Voice Thread, Mind42, Wiki in the classroom activities
-          Reflect about the use of Voice Thread, Mind42, Wiki in classroom routines.

4.    Describe the Web 2.0 resources that will be used to enhance the PDA.

Voice Thread is a tool that provides teachers and students the opportunity to integrate and develop the four language skills through documents, images and videos.

Mind42 is an application that allows teachers and students interact in collaborative activities.

Wiki makes exchanging ideas among teachers and students easier. They all can work on the same page and edit information.

5.    Explain how the success of the PDA will be assessed

The success of the PDA will be assessed by the participation of the teachers in the Voice Thread, Mind42 and Wiki activities.

6.    Explain how the concepts learned in the course will assist in designing and implementing a successful PDA.

Through the activities that I have been involved in during this course, I have experienced how technology can engage us in group work. Each tool provides different and meaningful ways of communication that can be adjusted to different learning styles. Each participant has been able to use the different tools and share information.
